Certified timber, supplied from Suffolk
Timbereist holds FSC® (FSC-C134890) and PEFC Chain of Custody certification. That means we can supply certified timber and sheet materials with the certified claim and our certificate code printed on your invoice, backed by an independently audited trail from the forest to your site.
Our certificates
- FSC®: we are a certified member of the CATG Ltd group, certificate code PBN-COC-026801, licence code FSC-C134890. Products we sell as FSC certified carry the claim FSC Mix 70%.
- PEFC: certificate code CATG-PEFC-COC-502, valid to April 2031. Products we sell as PEFC certified carry the claim 70% PEFC certified.
You can check any certificate yourself on the FSC public certificate search and the PEFC certificate search.
What chain of custody means
Chain of custody tracks certified timber at every step, from the forest, through the sawmill and importer, to our yard and on to you. Each business in the chain is audited, so the certified claim on your invoice can be trusted. If any link in the chain is not certified, the claim cannot be passed on.
What “FSC Mix 70%” and “70% PEFC certified” mean
Both claims mean that at least 70% of the wood in the product comes from certified, sustainably managed forests. The rest comes from recycled material or from controlled sources that have been checked to rule out illegal logging and other unacceptable sources.
When you need certified timber
Certified timber with chain of custody evidence is often required for:
- public sector and local authority projects
- BREEAM-rated and other sustainably assessed buildings
- housing association and social housing work
- projects where an architect or client has specified FSC or PEFC timber
Ask for our FSC® certified products. Not every product we stock is certified. Only products shown as FSC or PEFC certified on your quote and invoice carry a certified claim. If your project needs certified timber, tell us when you ask for a quote. We will confirm which products we can supply with a certified claim, and include the claim and our certificate code on your invoice.
Why it matters to us
Forests are home to a huge range of wildlife and play a vital part in absorbing carbon dioxide. Cut down without proper management and replanting, they and the world’s timber supply would slowly disappear. Sustainably managed forests work in cycles: trees are harvested and new ones are planted, while wildlife, ecosystems and watercourses are protected.
Sustainability has been at the heart of Timbereist since we started in 2015. Choosing certified timber is one of the simplest ways for builders, specifiers and homeowners to make sure the wood they use comes from forests that will still be there for the next generation.
